During the late 1940s and early 50s, fashion took on softer lines, influenced by Dior’s "new look." Jewel necklines and the popularity of sweaters prompted the demand for necklaces and pins. Because the process of creating of rhinestones was perfected, they became the preferred design medium for jewelry. Animal novelty brooches took center stage. Our squirrel is a whimsical fellow in 3/4 dimension. He is set with topaz crystal and glass leaves of 1940s circa. He chatters on about his prize acorn of gold glass pearl. Size: 2.375" x 2.4375". Timeless, romantic vintage style jewelry designed by Shelley Cooper. Made in the U.S.A.
